At EH Clean, many of our clients are families with young children who love the holidays. So, here is a list of our Top 5 Family-Friendly Holiday Events We Love, all of which are happening in the East Bay.
1.) Holiday Tea in Oakland: Visit the historic Dunsmuir Hellman Historic Estate decked out in Edwardian holiday splendor for a seasonal tea or holiday tours. The Children’s High Tea will be held Dec. 10 at 11:15 am. $48 adults, $46 seniors, $40 ages 6-12. Santa’s Brunch will take place Dec. 17 from 11 am-1 pm. 2.) Walnut Creek on Ice: Skaters can kick off the winter season in a partially enclosed ice rink for all ages and skills in downtown Walnut Creek from Nov. 10-Jan. 15. 12-8 pm Mon-Thu., 11 am-11 pm Fri. and Sat., 11 am-9 pm Sun. $12-15 per person, includes skate rental. 3.) Zoo Lights: Hundreds of thousands of LED lights will brighten Oakland’s night sky in this zoo-wide event. Highlights include a candy-cane-lane-themed rides area, a nighttime adventure on the train, rocking around the Christmas trees in the Children’s Zoo, and a light show with hundreds and thousands of LED lights. Dec. 1-31, closed Dec. 24 and 25. 5:30 pm-9 pm. $10 adults, $9 children and seniors, under 2 and over 80 FREE (not included with regular zoo admission). 4.) Fairy Winterland: Children’s Fairyland gets into spirit of the holidays of many cultures with this annual event. There will be stories, magic, crafts, a festival of lights and more, all celebrating Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Las Posadas, Diwali and Chinese New Year. Dec. 15-23. 12-7 pm. Parade nightly at 6:15pm. $10, $5 members. Children’s Fairyland, 699 Bellevue Ave., Oakland. 510-238-6876.
5.) Graham Lustig’s Nutcracker: Dancers will bring to life the story of one girl’s enchanted winter evening when the Oakland Ballet Company and Oakland Symphony present this holiday classic. Dec. 23-24. 1 pm and 5 pm. $25-90 adults, $19.50-76.50 seniors and ages 12 and under. Paramount Theatre, 2025 Broadway, Oakland. 510-893-3132.
